Here are the basic steps needed to be completed in order to move on in the course.
Day 1 - Course introduction.
This will take place as an entire group (20s and 30s together). We will go over the basics of the course.
Day 2 - Assessment of pre-existing knowledge.
You will have one class period to reach back and apply your knowledge from HTML in the form of a review. You may use online resources such as W3Schools to complete this review. This review is strictly to see where your programming skills are at and to get your mind fresh for the upcoming semester.
The review is located in the document below. Please hand this into me at the end of class so I can go through each.
Day 3 & 4 - Assessment of pre-existing knowledge continued
You will have two class period to reach back and apply your knowledge from JavaScript. The review assignment will be distributed in paper form. It will be on the table in the green screen room and will be labelled " JavaScript Review.
You will need to create your own account on CodeHS in order to access the video tutorials and notes for JavaScript. Your old accounts will not work as they have been deleted. You will also need the account so that you will be able to use the "Sandbox" for the application questions on the review. I will go over this with the 30s quickly before the 20s begin Karel.
Day 5 & 6 - Computer Hardware Research and Understanding
Today you will look at the components that make up a computer. This assignment will have you examine the parts of a computer using a helpful visual to assist you in better understanding the machines that we work with. Please first read through the PDF below and then continue onto the Word document below. There is a link in the document below that will provide you with the information that you will need to complete the assignment.
3. Complete the document below using the information in the PDF above. You will also need to visit this link to help you through the hardware parts assignment: http://www.kids-online.net/learn/click/table.html. I will have a paper copy of this also. Make sure you hand me in a hard copy.
